Made over seven days from the moment bulldozers entered the field, and working from dawn till dusk, this sculpture was a protest against housing development on prime vegetable growing land in Mount Barker SA. The seed pod forms were constructed of the last harvest of plants in that place- the yellow dock weed- and I had to climb onto a platform on the roof of my car to reach the tops. Unexpected visitors fron town brought me biscuits and orange juice while I worked (each form up to 3m H X 1m W).A year later the forms had slumped over in rain and wind, looking like quiet beasts grazing in the dry grass and harbouring a field mouse city of tunnels and nests.
